Hintertux Glacier

Hintertux Glacier is the tourist name for the glaciers of the Gefrorene-Wand-Kees, also called the Tuxer Ferner and is locted near the village of Hintertux. The glacier can be reached by using three gondola lifts. The Gletscherbus 3 is the highest cable car system using two cables in the World and reaches 3.250m.

The Hintertux Glacier offers snowboarding all year round. Its height means that there are usually good snow conditions, enabling almost all pistes and lifts to be kept open. Together with Zermatt it is the only glacier in the World that is open every day in the year.

Beware: Glaciers have crevasses. This makes freeriding in glacier areas more dangerous. Keep this in mind when planning any off piste activity!

Tip: When you want to be safe riding off piste: hire a local certified mountain guide.
